NETGEAR Drivers
NETGEAR launched in 1996 and quickly became a well-known networking brand in homes and small businesses around the world. Patrick Lo and Mark Merrill founded the company in the mid-90s just as some consumers were beginning to add second computers to their homes.
NETGEAR products address a need in these home office and small business markets. Because homes and small businesses don't generally have IT departments, ease of use, performance, quality, and reliability are hallmarks of NETGEAR products. Over 100 products are divided up into three main categories: Broadband, Ethernet networking, and wireless networking. Over 17 million units have been shipped since NETGEAR's inception – to the home and small business market. In 2007, NETGEAR report earnings in excess of $728 million.
Because NETGEAR focuses on home consumers and small businesses, products are sold through global sales channels such as value added resellers, direct market resellers, online retailers, and traditional retailers such as Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, and CompUSA.
Among the various NETGEAR products on the market are a full range of routers and gateways, switches, network adapters, VPN routers, SSL concentrators, storage solutions, access points and wireless controllers, print servers, VoIP products, PowerLine wireless access points and Ethernet adapters, and digital media receivers.
Among the latest innovative NETGEAR products for the home is the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer. This digital media receiver comes in a standard and HD version. The Digital Entertainer makes it easy to stream music, video, Internet radio, and other media from a computer to the televisions on the home network.
Another NETGEAR product finding its way into homes is the wireless game adapter. This device allows Ethernet-ready gaming consoles to link into the wireless network for Internet gaming using Plug-n-Play set up.
NETGEAR's WiFi phone with Skype allows Skype users to make free calls to other Skype users which isn't unusual for a Skype phone. What's unusual about this model is that NETGEAR's wireless Skype phone allows users to make their calls from any WiFi hotspot, home, office, or public wireless access point that doesn't require browser-based authentication.
As more consumers create wireless home networks, NETGEAR is well positioned for continued success.
