Monitor Drivers

download drivers In the past twenty five years or so, computer monitors have evolved. Once upon a time, a monochrome computer monitor with an amber or green display was considered high-tech. Soon, color monitors took over and became the products to beat. As resolution improved, screens grew larger. 17 to 19-inch monitors soon found their way to the desktops of homes and businesses. Now, mammoth sized CRTs are about as old-fashioned as amber monochrome monitors. Today's top-selling computer monitors are thin, vivid, and flat.

Flat panel monitors continue their evolution. They are getting wider - and touch sensitive. Screen sizes are reaching gigantic new proportions with sizes of 28 or more inches. Monitors can be swiveled vertically for a whole new view. In addition, many computer users are moving to a multiple monitor setup.

What's so important about computer monitors? Computer monitors are output devices. They output the computer's display. Without a computer monitor, you'd have a difficult time interacting with your computer. Not all computer monitors are created equally. Because you spend so much time sitting in front of a computer screen, ergonomics and how well the monitor displays text can affect your health, comfort, and eyesight.

Many of the leading monitor manufacturers are also computer manufacturers. For example, HP, Sony, and Dell all manufacture excellent computers and computer monitors.

HP offers LCD, TFT, and CRT style monitors for both home and business use. Sizes range from 15 to 23 inches with numerous options available including touchscreen monitors, 90 degree pivot rotation, anti-glare screens, and used monitor recycling.

Sony remains a leader when it comes to televisions and computer monitors. Their latest flat panel computer monitors offer superior picture quality and high resolution brightness and color. Widescreen displays, high contrast images, crisp text, and huge sizes continue to impress computer users. Sony products usually command higher prices and this is true of computer monitors too.

Dell manufactures a variety of flat panel monitors for both home and business use. Their "Ultrasharp" 24-inch model boasts a 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio with full HDTV support. This particular monitor is fully adjustable with tilts, swivels, and pivots. Dell offers a variety of monitors for just about any budget.

Today's computer monitors no longer simply provide you with a way to interact with your computer, they also perform double duty. With the larger screen sizes and built-in HDTV support, these monitors are transforming computers into full blown entertainment systems. A computer equipped with a Blu-ray disc and a 28-inch HDTV widescreen monitor will deliver an amazing movie-watching experience. Monitors used to come with a single serial cable for plugging into your computer. Now they come with multiple USB ports, HDMI ports, and DVI ports.

All of these advances in technology do come with a price. Some of the coolest new monitors cost well over $1500. This doesn't mean that you must come up with over a thousand dollars the next time you're in the market for a computer monitor. Less expensive monitors are available in the one to two hundred dollar price range. However, these budget models are smaller with fewer features.
