Linksys Drivers
Linksys is a division of Cisco that caters to the networking and wireless networking needs of consumers and small businesses. Linksys products are designed for home and small business networks to facilitate the sharing of broadband Internet connections, printers, files, data, voice, video, and peripherals over both wired and wireless networks.
Linksys is based in southern California and serves the entire world with sales offices in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America, and South America. Over 900 employees are working on Linksys products around the globe.
The home and small business market is lucrative as more consumers and businesses see the benefits of computer networks. At the heart of any network of any size is a router. Linksys routers allow users to connect their computers together and begin sharing files and devices. Both wired and wireless routers are available.
Regardless of the connection type, any computer that will be networked must have a way to connect. For example, if connecting to a Linksys router using an Ethernet cable, the computer must have an Ethernet adapter. Likewise, if connecting wirelessly, the computer must have a wireless adapter. Most newer computers come preinstalled with either Ethernet or wireless ports (or both). However, if the computer is not equipped, Linksys has a solution. Linksys network adapters install into free expansion slots on desktops or PCMIA slots on laptops.
In many cases, consumers can buy everything that they need to set up a home or small business network in a single box. For example, they might buy a wireless Linksys router bundled with two wireless network adapters. Included in the box would be the software to make it all work. In addition, networking products can be purchased ala carte so that only the required products are purchased.
Not only does Linksys offer the basics for creating small computer networks, they also offer products designed for network storage, security monitoring, surveillance, voice and telephone, and entertainment.
While Linksys's parent company, Cisco, caters to larger businesses and enterprise organizations, Linksys continues to focus on the needs of home and small business users. Cisco products are complex, requiring trained technicians and IT professionals to install, configure, and manage; Linksys products are easy to use and reliable. The partnership between Cisco and Linksys is strong with each division focusing on what they do best. By having the backing of Cisco and access to Cisco technologies and the focus on the needs of the consumer, Linksys has successfully created a line of high-quality, easy-to-use networking products.
