Bluetooth Drivers

download drivers Bluetooth is a low-power-consumption wireless technology that uses radio signals for communication and data transfer. The technology works effectively in short-ranges. It helps you connect electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, audio equipments, and printers without any hassles of laying cumbersome cable network.

Bluetooth enabled devices can communicate with each other with in a certain range. The standard range for Bluetooth devices is 10 meters (Around 33 feet). Some new and high-powered Bluetooth devices allow ranges of over 100 meters.

Some of the common uses of Bluetooth include: wireless headsets of mobile phones, keyboards, mouse, wireless internet, printers, GPS receivers, and remote controls.

Electronic manufacturing companies such as Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba are the pioneers in developing the Bluetooth technology. These companies founded a Bluetooth Special Interest Group, in 1998, which was then joined by 3Com, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft, and Motorola in 1999.

The device got its name from a tenth century Scandinavian king, Harald Bluetooth, whose kingdom flourished in the 10th century. King Bluetooth was known for his unification of the warring tribes from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (Scandinavian Europe) during an era when the region was torn apart by wars. The makers of the Bluetooth technology felt the name was fitting, seeing how the technology is a single standard that helps unify and connect different industries such as the mobile phones, computing and automotive markets.

A Bluetooth device transfers data using low-range radio signals. The device communicates between frequencies 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz. This frequency range is set aside by the industrial, scientific and medical devices (ISM). A Bluetooth device sends a signal of about 1 mili Watt. This limits the range of the device within which data can be exchanged.

To transfer data via Bluetooth, the sending and receiving devices should be placed within 30 feet or 10 meters of each other. At one point of time up to eight different devices can be connected to Bluetooth, provided they are all in a 30 feet or 10 Meter radius.

Although, the Bluetooth technology opens up new and vast vistas in connecting electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, audio equipments, and printers, it also present some serious security threats.

A Bluetooth device creates an ad hoc network that allows the connected devices to communicate directly with each other rather than going to a Wireless Access Point (WAP). This affects the security control and in turn exposes your device and information to threats, such as hacking. To avoid these threats it essential to keep your security software up-to-date.

On the whole Bluetooth has revolutionized the wireless technology it has made data transfer easier and automatic. With help of Bluetooth you can connect more than one device and can transfer data from a wider range in comparison to an Infrared device or any other wireless device.

Sony Ericsson, BlueAnt Wireless ,GOERTEK ELECTRONICS, Jabra, Philips, Logitech, Motorola Inc., Nokia, LG Electronics, CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio plc), Plantronics, Broadcom, Samsung, BLUETREK are some of the key manufacturers of Bluetooth devices.
