Acer Drivers
Acer was founded in 1976 in Taiwan as Multitech, a company dedicated to trade and product design. Early on, this company showed its leadership. Examples include the Microprocessor Training Center founded by Acer in 1978 where they trained and prepared 3000 engineers for the IT industry as well as a corporate culture based on the premise of "the goodness of human nature." From IT training to corporate stock offers to all employees, Acer was set on a path toward success.
Achievements in Acer's early years include Taiwan's first mass-produced PC built for export, Taiwan's first 8-bit home computer, and the founding of Acerland, Taiwan's first franchised retail computer chain.
In 1987, Multitech changed names to Acer in a move toward building a strong brand name. Joint ventures, the introduction of new technologies, and strategic and geographic growth helped Acer become one of the largest PC brands in the world. As Acer approached the new millennium, its continued focus on technological innovation and the goodness of people along with simplifying operations led to continued success.
Worldwide, Acer employs over 5500 people with a vast sales and service network that extends to over 100 countries. In 2005, Acer revenue approached the $10 billion mark. By 2007, that number has soared to over $14 billion. Acer ranks as the world's number two laptop vendor and number three PC vendor. Among the top five computer makers, Acer has shown the fastest growth. Mergers with Gateway and Packard Bell have strengthened Acer even more both in the U.S and Europe.
Acer manufactures a variety of products including desktops, notebooks, tablet PCs, servers, storage devices, handheld computers, monitors, projectors, digital cameras, and televisions.
Acer desktops for businesses offer professional level computers that enhance productivity and multitasking while providing features and value. These Acer computers are currently branded under the Veriton and AcerPower trimlines.
Consumer Acer desktops offer home users multimedia, home entertainment, performance, and communications. These consumer-level Acer computers carry the Aspire model name.
Acer notebooks include the Aspire, TravelMate, and Ferrari series. Aspire notebooks are known for their style, usability, and multimedia features. The TravelMate series is designed for business professionals who require security, reliability, communication, and professional features while on the road. The Ferrari series represents a partnership between Scuderia Ferrari and Acer. These notebooks are packed with technology – and branded with the distinctive Ferrari logo.
Acer has developed a complete lineup of handheld devices including PocketPCs, PDAs, and portable navigators. In fact, many of these devices combine the functions of all three into a single handheld device. For example, the Acer PocketPC Travel Companion serves as a PDA and a trip navigator. In addition, MP3 playback, Bluetooth technology, and wireless capabilities enhance this device.
In addition to computers, laptops, and handhelds, Acer is also well known in the LCD TV and computer monitor market. Acer LCD monitors come in a variety of trimlines ranging from appearance and economy to the attention-getting, sleek performance of Ferrari LCD monitors.
The past three decades have seen Acer jump to the top of technology and become one of the world's leading computer manufacturers.
